Full course description

This course has been developed in partnership with Swansea Bay University Health Board, Wales and builds on the VBHC Academy’s “Introduction to Value-Based Health and Care Programme” which we advise strongly should be completed first. Although aimed primarily at Swansea Bay staff the content and practical examples may be of interest to other learners.

This course provides specific learning about the use of Outcome Measures (PROMs)  in the Health Board and uses case studies from clinical teams in Swansea Bay.  It is also useful preparation for our formal educational programmes in Value-Based Health and Care.

This course will help learners to:

• Understand and be able to apply the approaches for the successful implementation of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).

• Understand different types of PROM tool and how they can be successfully used.

• Understand and be able to apply benefit realisation in VBHC projects.

• Understand the Swansea Bay University Health Board VBHC strategy and how this fits with the national VBHC strategy.

• Understand the VBHC support available to learners from the Health Board

• Explain successful examples of PROM implementation within the Health Board

The module uses a combination of short talks and case studies. There is a test of knowledge to take at the end.
